Coronavirus Anxiety: Coping with Isolation, Stress, Worry Fear of COVID-19.

The Coronovirus epidemic is causing increased stress and anxiety. Reactions to the crisis can include feeling overwhelmed, fearful, sad, angry and helpless. For many people the uncertainty surrounding coronavirus is the hardest thing to handle. We don't know how exactly we'll be impacted or how bad things might get. And tht makes it all too easy to catastrophize and spiral out into overwhelming dread and panic. Many people are struggling to cope with the loss of normal life, loss of contact with freinds/ family. Whilst some are coping with separation or solitude others are on the other hand experiencing relationship difficulties as a result of spending more time together, working and educating from home often resulting in increased tensions as we negotiate a new way of day to day living in these unprecedented times .
The most important thing to realise is that your feelings are normal and valid and that acceptance will help you emotionally navigate yourself through this difficult time. Remember that many are struggling to cope at one point or another and going through a range of emotions during this time is common.

I am here to help you at this challenging time by providing you with emotional and psychological support and strategies. I am able to offer this, whilst social distancing is in force, through On-line therapy through applications such as Skype, Zoom, Face Time and WhatsApp. All these videoconferencing applications are all considered secure as they work on encrypted connection.

Please feel free to contact me for any queries or to book an online therapy session.

I am an experienced, qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist offering support to both individuals and couples. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and offer Counselling in Godalming, Guildford and Leatherhead.

The very fact you are contemplating counselling means you are taking the first steps towards embracing some aspect of your life that may not currently be working for you, or it may be that life doesn't feel quite right. If you are suffering from depression, stress, anxiety, anger, loneliness, bereavement, relationship difficulties, it can help to talk things through with someone impartial to your situation.
I know that when you decide to embark on counselling, finding the right counsellor for you, can be a daunting process. I believe in the importance of the relationship between client and counsellor and as a therapist I endeavour to create a warm, safe and supportive environment.

My practice is best described as relational counselling. It is a non-directive form of therapy, which acknowledges that you are the expert on your life and that I do not claim to have any answers that you cannot find from within yourself. However, it can be helpful to be supported in finding these answers or a path, which is where therapy plays an important part.

My part is to listen, accept and assist in enabling you to gain increased awareness of yourself, your environment and the implications of the choices you make, leading you to a more meaningful and fulfilling life. My method relies heavily on a collaboration, with me acting as a guide for you to explore what you need to.

Please have a look through my website to give you a feel of how I work and to know if counselling or psychotherapy may be able to help you at this point in your life. My 'Client Testimonials' may also help guide you too.

All enquiries are welcome and will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Why choose counselling?

There are certain times when we can all find life overwhelming and full of obstacles. If you are suffering from depression, relationship issues, distress or anxiety it can help to talk things through with someone impartial to your situation.
Ultimately, every one of us has the capacity to live a more fulfilling life and to have close relationships in which we can accept ourselves, others and the circumstances of our lives.
Therapy offers you a confidential, non-judgmental, and compassionate place where you can express how you feel and work on yourself. It gives you the opportunity to sit with a professional who has the skills and expertise to help you alleviate your emotional suffering and bring about a positive change in your life
Counselling can be incredibly healing and for some, life changing. It can improve your self-awareness and insight so this will help you to feel differently and perhaps do things differently. I do not have the words to describe exactly what this might mean for you because it can mean different things to different people.

What I do offer all of my clients is a safe, warm, compassionate, confidential and non-judgemental space.

My role as a counsellor is not to offer you a ready-made solution; rather it is to support you in your exploration, through discussion and reflection, to reach greater insight into your situation and the choices available to you. I cannot unlock doors for you but I may be able to assist you in finding the right key.
I firmly believe that, no matter what obstacles life throws in our way, each and every one of us has in reserve the capacity to learn to overcome those challenges and to experience the renewed pleasure of feeling in charge of our lives.
